Perche’ candidato?
E’ ancora presto per cominciare una radiografia dei candidati in modo che alcuni di loro, cosa difficilissima, cancellino il loro nome dalle liste elet-torali?
Sentiamo gia’ l’urlo e le sirene di allarme dei superpatiti della democrazia che, in questo caso, e’ offesa proprio da coloro che si candidano non considerando la preparazione richiesta dalla carica alla quale aspirano, la qualita’ degli altri candidati o per un errato calcolo della loro statura, quella mentale, na-turalmente!
Mentre la presenza di candidati perditempo quasi mai e’ determinante quando gli elettori sono centinaia di migliaia , puo’ diventarlo se il numero degli elettori e’ limitato in citta’ come Vaughan, Caledon, Georgina, Ri-chmond Hill e tante altre.

Why are they running?
Is it too early to x-ray some of the candidates' competency, so as to hope, although we doubt it will ever happen, some of them will drop out and not run in the next municipal election?
We can already hear the screams and howls of scorn of those in love with absolute democracy; democracy that, in this specific case, is truly offended first of all by those candidates that run without any concern for the skills and the experience required for the position they seek, or for the skills and qualities of the other candidates. Or do so through a heighten, albeit unjustified, ap-preciation of their intellectual prowling.
Normally, the presence of waste-time candidates rarely effects the election's outcome when the voters are hundreds of thousand. It can however have an effect when the pool of voters is limited, as in cities such as Vaughan, Caledon, Georgina, Richmond Hill and other similar municipalities.
