Happy Italian Heritage Month!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Italian Heritage Month! For those of you that have visited the site, italianheritagecanada.ca you will see that we have a month filled with interesting and exciting events where we can showcase our culture and heritage and share it with fellow Canadians!
On the second of June, Queen's Park will host the official flag raising ceremony and we expect to see people present at the event from all over the world not just Italians. Remember, Queen's Park is where it all began with the passage of the Italian Heritage Month Act!
In the evening if you happen to be by the CN Tower, or if you happen to be in Niagara Falls, please note the colour of the Tower and the Falls, in honour of the 65th Anniversary of the Republic of Italy, the 150th Anniversary of the unification of Italy and our FIRST Italian heritage month, these iconic symbols will be green, white and red in honour of our achievements and celebrations!
I would like to express my gratitude for all those that have volunteered their time and energy to create the events for the month and those that shared the dream and committed money to bring it to fruition.
I am extremely proud of what we have done, more than two hundred volunteers (and counting), more than twenty-five events. All done by volunteers, no paid individuals and wherever possible free events for all to enjoy!
Some have said that there is no community, that we are fragmented and unable to do things with a single voice. I vehemently disagree with this and the proof is in what we have been able to accomplish for our community by our community and its friends. Enjoy the month, frequent the activities and whether you are italian or not, reflect on and celebrate this great country that because of its multiculturalism has enriched all our lives! God Bless Canada, Italy and all our citizens that strive each day to make this a better place for our families and future generations.
