“Votazione anticipata” a partire da lunedi

Vaughan - Scatta questo lunedi, la settimana dell’”Advanced Voting” cioe’della votazione anticipata. Chiunque per qualsiasi ragione non puo’ recarsi alle Urne il 25 di questo mese, puo’ farlo da questo lunedi’ 4 ottobre.
Per le date, orari e localita’riportiamo , qui in basso, lo schema pubblicato sul sito web www.vaughanvotes.ca

Questione di informazione, oppure...?

Domanda agli addetti ai lavori: Perche’ a Vaughan si e’ deciso di non infor-mare - attraverso annunci pubblicitari specifici in merito alle date per votar anticipatamente - quegli elettori di lingua italiana che leggono Lo Specchio ?

Premessa: Lo si e’ regolarmente fatto nelle passate tornate elettorali, riconoscendo la necessita’ di comunicare con una grossa realta’ della cittadi-nanza e quindi una grossa fetta dell’elettorato della Citta’ di Vaughan.

Senza sapere che Lo Specchio non sarebbe stato scelto per pubblicare tali annunci a pagamento e sollecitati da telefonate di nostri lettori che ci chia-mano per informazioni, all’inizio di questa setti-mana abbiamo condotto un “mini sondaggio”.

Dati di fatto: Abbiamo chiamato 33 residenti lettori de Lo Specchio.

Abbiamo chiesto loro se sapevano che si poteva votare anticipatamente e non solo il 25 ottobre.
11 hanno risposto SI;
22 hanno risposto NO.

A tutti abbiamo comunque chiesto se sapessero le date in cui si puo’ votare anti-cipatamente.
33 su 33 hanno risposto di non saperlo!

Noi abbiamo riflettuto su questi numeri....
Gli addetti ai lavori pro-babilmente dovrebbero, visto che anche su questa edizione de Lo Specchio -ultima data utile prima delle date in cui si puo’ votare anticipatamente (vedi schema in questa pagina)- non compare un avviso specifico ufficiale , come invece appare sulla stam-pa di lingua inglese dove l’informazione ai cittadini e’ data a pagina intera...e con tanto di colore!

Considerazioni: Strategia ? Politica del risparmio? O... cosa?
P.s. -Al lettore: Per trovare l’informazione ufficiale, solo relativa alle date, spulciare co-munque questa edizione.Ah... serve la lente d’ingrandimento

Speaking of politics, our municipal bureaucrats have told us that everything we need to know about the upcoming October 25th, municipal elections is on the Net. They have load up all the pertinent information on the City of Vaughan Web site. We just need to go there to get the scoop on everything. For example that advanced voting begins this Monday, October 4.
Well, it's not that simple, not that easy.
Humm? Are you stupid or somethin'…?
Well, you can access of this information only if you have a computer. Only if you know how to use a computer. Only if you know how to navigate the net. If you speak read and write English.
Because of life's many different realities we're not all blessed with these four information "qualities".
So, while the info-high-tech friendly administrator shows off his computer savvy, many simple voters are left wondering were to get the needed, necessary voting information.
And what was wrong with reaching all voters through all available forms of information, even the antiquated ones such as "printed matter" and the use of other languages? Just asking.
